"And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God" (John 20.28). "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last" (Rev. 22.13). "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1.1). "The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not" (John 1.2-5). He was uniquely God the Son! "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (John 1.14). Only God can give eternal life. Jesus said, "I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" (John 10.28). Jesus said of Himself, "As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him" (John 17.2).Listen to what men who did not believe in God said about Jesus (evidence from non-Christians). Josephus, the greatest Jewish scholar in history, born 37 A.D., in The Antiquities said, "Jesus, who was called the Christ." He spoke of James, Jesus' brother, who was put to death for believing in Jesus as the Son of God.
John the Baptist said of Jesus, "He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. I am of the earth, and my understanding is limited to the things of earth, but he has come from heaven" (John 3.31). Jesus said, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not. That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am who I say I am, you will die in your sins" (John 8.23,24). "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM" (John 8.58).
Jesus said, "When the world hates you, remember it hated me before it hated you. The world would love you if you belonged to it, but you don't. I chose you to come out of the world, and so it hates you" (John 15.18,19). To "come out of the world" is from where one use to belong. Whereas Jesus is "from above." You are "from below." Jesus never had to come out of the world because "he has come from heaven."
